1. An air-cooled chiller works by absorbing the heat from processed water. Once the water in the air handler system is used, it becomes warm and is sent back to the chiller. Heat is transferred away from the water using the chiller’s evaporator
2. Liquid refrigerant evaporates as it moves over the evaporator tube, creating a low-pressure gas. Next, the evaporated refrigerant travels to the compressor where the low-pressure gas is compressed into a high-pressure gas. The gas then leaves and goes to the air-cooled condensers.
3. While in the condenser, heat is removed from the chiller by being blown outside through fans on the side of the condenser. Because the heat is blown outside of the chiller, it is ideal to place the chiller outdoors or in a large indoor location that will not be affected by the excess heat
4. After the gas leaves the condenser, the refrigerant changes into a high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid travels to the evaporator through the expansion valve. During this process, the refrigerant changes from a high-pressure liquid to a low-pressure liquid. Because an industrial chiller works on a continuous cycle, this low-pressure liquid is then transferred back to the evaporator where the whole cycle will repeat itself
5. Industrial chillers are often used in large buildings such as hotels, indoor malls, hospitals, and large industrial buildings, as well as locations that may have multiple buildings that require cooling such as outdoor malls and theme parks. Portable air-cooled chillers can also be used for large events or emergency situations.

A water chiller, or chilled water system, is a type of refrigeration system which uses water as a secondary refrigerant. They are used for larger, more complex, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) applications. Typical applications of water chillers are enumerated below.
- District cooling
- Centralized air conditioning
- Hydroponics
- Food and beverage processing
- Pharmaceuticals and medical
- Cold storage
- Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems
- Machining, waterjet cutting, laser cutting, welding, etc.
- Plastic processing
1. A water-cooled chiller is one of the types of chillers that removes heat from it to cool the water used in projects or industrial or domestic structures and re-enters the water into the operation cycle. In fact, chillers transfer heat from a space that needs temperature control and transfer it to another space
2. A cooling tower is specifically designed for the water-cooled chiller
3. The cycle of water-cooled chillers, like any other chiller, consists of four main members: evaporator, compressor, condenser and expansion valve, in each of which a thermodynamic process takes place. The way the chiller works is that the refrigerant is delivered to different phases of the material at different pressures and temperatures to cool the water instead and pump it out of the chiller. In fact, the main work of chillers is based on the phase change or physical state of the refrigerant or refrigerant. In the meantime, the work of water-cooled chillers is based on the condensation of steam or gas.
